Gersten Brothers Inc. was acquired by Henry Adelman in 1962. It is reported Henry was the “president of three novelty manufacturing companies here [Amsterdam, NY]” (Poughkeepsie Journal, 1962-10-25), but the companies remain unknown. According to US patent US2323103A filed 1942, Gersten Brothers refers to Mortimer Alfred, Lee and Louis Gersten.
Gersten Brothers manufactured some of the same pieces as Corwin Plastics and Timco. The relationship between the three is unknown. Gersten Brothers seem to have sold their products under the “Utilo” name, which included cardboard products such as their fake fireplace and playsets.
