Eight unique “colorfully decorated” Poloron Pixie designs were created by Poloron Products, each illuminated with a single socket (using an E12 base). Four of the designs (the toy soldier, santa, snowman and elf) were also available in non-illuminated versions, as seen in Poloron Products’ 1969 catalog. By 1970, the non-illuminated “hi-impact unbreakable plastic” Pixies disappeared from the catalog, leaving only their illuminated counterparts.
While some Poloron Pixies have been found with alternate paint schemes, the total number of variations is unknown. The timeless simplicity of the designs would go on to be duplicated by other manufacturers, such as TPI Plastics.
